The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a Part-Time lecturer opportunity in Biotechnology teaching Introduction to Biotechnology for the Fall 2025 term. The Lecturer will teach night courses both lecture and laboratory in person in our undergraduate program on our Boston campus. Screening and review of candidate application materials will begin immediately and will be ongoing.

The College teaches undergraduate graduate and doctoral students on campus and online in more than 90 programs.

Responsibilities
Part-time Lecturers are expected to work collaboratively with the Program Lead in the department to ensure consistent course delivery including the alignment of lecture content and lab activities scientific skills development and assessment of the curriculum across all lecture and lab sections. Lectures must use the Colleges learning management system Canvas to post syllabus assignments grades and other materials to communicate with students.
The successful candidate will teach courses including but not limited to Introduction to Biotechnology and the associated laboratory. The candidate will work with the biotechnology lab manager to ensure all materials for the laboratory are prepared.
We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic instructor with expertise in genomics proteomics and bioinformatics. Introduction to Biotechnology explores the integrated science of genomics proteomics and bioinformatics using a case study hands-on and problem-solving approach. Students learn to access and use online scientific databases for real-time discoveries mirroring practices used in contemporary research and industry settings. The course emphasizes genomic analysis and introduces new technologies through multimedia and web resources.
The lab component reinforces lecture content and provides students with experience in techniques commonly used in research laboratories and biopharmaceutical settings. Students will learn the theory and application of laboratory protocols accurate liquid and solid measurement solution/media preparation and aseptic technique. Lab skills include electrophoresis protein quantification DNA extraction and basic bioreactor operation.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of a Masters degree in Biotechnology or a closely related field is required; biotechnology lab experience is required.
The department is seeking candidates with a history of effective teaching including experience using active learning techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Biotechnology or a closely related field. Experience with Canvas LMS a plus. Prior teaching experience.
