Senior Software Engineer Kubernetes TS/SCI Eligible San Antonio TX onsite
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes to join our team and drive the development and deployment of scalable containerized applications in mission-critical environments. In this role you will take ownership of building robust Kubernetes infrastructure authoring and managing manifests and optimizing CI/CD workflows to ensure high availability and streamlined delivery. You will work closely with cross-functional DevOps and platform teams to enhance system reliability improve application observability and implement infrastructure-as-code solutions using modern tools like Terraform and Ansible. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of Kubernetes strong programming skills and hands-on experience with monitoring and automation in complex distributed systems. An active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance are required.
Responsibilities
- Design develop and deploy scalable containerized applications within Kubernetes environments to ensure consistent and reliable delivery.
- Author and maintain Kubernetes manifests including Deployments Services Ingress ConfigMaps and Secrets following best practices for configuration management.
- Implement manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate build test and deployment workflows for Kubernetes-based applications.
- Diagnose and resolve deployment infrastructure and runtime issues across Kubernetes clusters to maintain high availability and performance.
- Monitor application health and resource utilization leveraging tools such as Prometheus Grafana or similar for proactive performance management.
- Develop and maintain centralized logging and monitoring solutions for observability and incident response in Kubernetes environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform engineering teams to enhance Kubernetes infrastructure improve application resilience and streamline delivery processes.
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code initiatives using tools like Terraform Ansible or Helm to standardize and automate infrastructure provisioning.
- Stay current with the latest trends and advancements in Kubernetes cloud-native technologies and container orchestration strategies.
- Participate actively in agile development ceremonies including sprint planning daily stand-ups and retrospectives contributing to continuous improvement and team alignment.
Basic Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in software development including building deploying and supporting production-grade applications.
- 5 years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes including deployment orchestration scaling and cluster management.
- Understand containerization technologies particularly Docker and their role in modern application architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes networking service discovery DNS ingress controllers and load balancing mechanisms.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go Python Java or used in application and infrastructure development.
- Practical experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g. Jenkins GitLab CI CircleCI) for automated testing building and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform Ansible or AWS CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability stacks such as Prometheus Grafana Fluentd and the Elastic Stack for system and application visibility.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on debugging complex distributed systems.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Must possess an active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP).
- Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g. Istio Linkerd).
- Experience with serverless technologies (e.g. Knative OpenFaaS).
- Experience working with git at the command-line
- Experience working with the Linux CLI and Linux scripting
- Contribution to open-source Kubernetes projects.
