(CHC) located in Bethlehem PA is a 501-c-3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to give people especially youth the knowledge and tools they need to make better-informed and more positive life choices. Drug and alcohol prevention programs life skills training and student mentoring are core services. Our vital programs and services are provided in the schools in the community and in the workplace.

The Center for Humanistic Change seeks a full-time Prevention Program Specialist for immediate placement. This position is expected to be a 12-month exempt position 40 hours per week. Prevention Specialists are responsible for planning coordinating presenting and facilitating prevention programs/trainings and community awareness in the Lehigh Valley. This particular Prevention Specialist position will primarily provide programs to the incarcerated population in the Lehigh County jail but will also be scheduled for other prevention work when needed.
Ideal candidates must demonstrate the ability to work independently and with a team manage deadlines for paperwork and electronic data entry and relate well to youth and adults. Excellent judgment attention to detail outstanding written and verbal communication skills strong presentation and facilitation skills and proficiency in MS Office are required for this position. Juggling deadlines thinking outside the box adapting to new situations remaining current with new trends in prevention and technology and the ability and willingness to learn new skills are essential to success in this position.
In addition to availability during normal business and school hours applicants must have some flexibility to assist with occasional weekend and evening programs for community events and school open houses. All applicants must have reliable transportation and the ability to do light lifting to transport files and other materials as necessary. Applicants must have access to mobile and home internet.
A Bachelors Degree is required with related experience in education psychology counseling social work public health or a closely related human services field. A Masters degree is preferred but may be substituted with relevant work experience or equivalent formal training. Experience working with incarcerated adults is a plus. CHC staff are expected to obtain and maintain all state and local training requirements and clearances including PA Child Abuse history clearance PA State Police background clearance FBI background fingerprinting check mandated child abuse reporter training and abuse prevention training. Clearances and criminal record checks must be in compliance and in accordance with the laws reflecting the ability to work in schools and with children.
