Job Description
The Cape Girardeau Public School District is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant for the Career and Technology Center for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The Teacher Assistant is responsible for helping to promote a positive and creative learningenvironment in which students feel cared for respected and excited to participate; assisting the assigned classroom teacher in all aspects of the program attending scheduled meetings and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a high school diploma and have completed the approved DESE Substitute Training or
- At least 60 hours of college credit
- Possess/willing to obtain a valid Missouri substitute certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities
- Healthcare Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding studentinformation and records
- Ability to take direction from lead teachers andsupervisors
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability regardingstudent and building needs
- Willingness to work with small groups of students orwith students one-to-one
- Ability and willingness to team-teach and/or co-teachwith a lead teacher or regular classroom teachers
- Possession of excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively withstudents teachers supervisors and parents
- Willingness to demonstrate support for classroomteacher and the school culture
- Willingness and ability to work with at-risk students
