Mechanical System Design Engineer (Associate Experienced or Lead)

The Boeing Company is seeking a Mechanical System Design Engineer (Associate Experienced or Lead) to support the KC-46A program in Boeing Defense and Space in Everett WA.

As a key player in one of the most advanced aerial refueling systems in the world you will oversee the design configuration of critical hardware that supports our mission to deliver unparalleled capabilities to our customers. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of aviation technology ensuring that our product meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.

The KC-46 Aerial Refueling Systems team is seeking a highly motivated capable and quick learning engineer to join our team. The KC-46 Aerial Refueling Systems team is made up of a diverse set of engineers that design develop test certify and support the following systems: aerial refueling boom hose and drogue aerial refueling operating station and the remote vision system. In this role the engineer will be the prime focal for one of our many components or sub-systems that make up the aerial refueling platform. They will own the components or sub-systems across the entire product lifecycle integrating across multiple Boeing teams external customers and suppliers to ensure a quality system is designed manufactured tested and maintained as part of the KC-46 platform.

The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical systems or structural design; the ability to communicate effectively; and the ability to integrate with various teams effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops integrates and documents mechanical and structural payload system requirements to establish the system design

  • Develops maintains and manages mechanical and structural system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods to provide product definition to other engineering groups production operations suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle

  • Performs tests to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications

  • Assists with supplier development test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals

  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements

  • Clearly communicates technical information with Boeing teams suppliers customers and regulatory delegates to certify and produce a product

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science

  • 2 years experience in Engineering with 1 years experience with CATIA or other CAD software

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive (CATIA) Mentor Graphics and/ or Unigraphics

  • Experience in mechanical and/or structural design through internships projects and/or previous positions

  • Experience with collecting organizing synthesizing and analyzing data; summarizing findings; developing conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

  • Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design production and support of products services or other deliverables

Level 2: $80750 - $109250

Level 3: $90050 $129950

Level 4: $120700 - $163300

Security Clearance:
