Assistant Professor Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead organize and execute events to recruit STEM and other related field researchers and employers for workplace disability awareness training (virtual in-person hybrid) workshops and events.
- Recruit and establish a network of employers and researchers to participate in a training cohort.
- Organize and provide researcher and employer training based on the project developed instruments.
- Provide on-going mentoring support and training to employers who completed the training to implement their disability awareness plan.
- Organize job fairs and other networking opportunities for students who complete STEM internship programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate mentoring sessions for faculty researchers and students with disabilities in STEM fields.
- Develop and teach STEM undergraduate and graduate courses and various training programs about disability awareness and accommodations.
- Mentor and advise students with disabilities and other student population in Hawaii in developing and conducting their research and participating in work-based learning.
- Increase businesses to offer internship opportunities for high school undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop a business plan to promote the project and center activities and resources by expanding partnership with companies and organizations locally nationally and internationally.
- Work with existing national and international work groups on disability and STEM.
- Develop a strategic plan for project sustainability that includes additional training modules and courses for faculty researchers students employers and community based on feedback and needs.
- Analyze local national and international trends and data to identify further needs in STEM research training education and career in order to attract greater interest in the field of STEM.
- Serve on departmental college and university committees. Render service to the professional or lay community in areas relevant to STEM.
- Write grant proposals to continue funding for similar projects in fostering STEM fields.
- Maintain an active program of research and publications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Associate Professor Duties and Responsibilities
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities for Assistant Professor:
- Establish and strengthen long-term partnerships with major STEM industry leaders government agencies and nonprofit organizations to advance workplace disability engagement and create sustainable internship and employment pipelines for students with disabilities.
- Lead collaborative initiatives among universities research institutions STEM employers and government agencies to enhance workforce development fostering regional national and international engagement.
- Secure grants and funding from federal or state agencies private foundations and industry partners to support research training programs and large-scale initiatives on disability awareness and engagement in STEM fields.
- Lead interdisciplinary research teams to produce high-impact publications and innovative training models.
Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in any STEM field education disability studies or business administration related field from a college or university of recognized standing.
- Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
- Experience mentoring high school and/or university undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities in STEM fields through their research and career pathways.
- Experience in working at both university and business settings.
- Demonstrated experience in networking and partnering with businesses and STEM field professional groups.
- Demonstrated experience with securing and/or being part of the competitive research grant funded projects.
- Familiaritywith career pathways for STEM majors.
- Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present to diverse stakeholders.
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications
- In addition to the minimum qualifications for Assistant Professor:
- Minimum of four (4) years of service as Assistant Professor or equivalent experiences.
- Demonstrated experience in guiding students career pathways for STEM majors.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing a scholarly profile by conducting and publishing research work.
Assistant Professor Desirable Qualifications
- Work experience in a variety of environments and STEM sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in developing training modules and conducting workshops.
- Demonstrated experience with disability awareness training.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data to assess training program impacts and identify areas of improvement.
Associate Professor Desirable Qualifications
- In addition to the desirable qualifications for Assistant Professor:
- Demonstrated experience leading a federal grant project.
- Demonstrated experience in driving new business opportunities and expanding partnerships in STEM fields.
- Demonstrated experience in securing funding or grants for STEM initiatives or disability awareness programs.
- Demonstrated experience in creating business plans and conducting public speaking or presentations to diverse audience.
