This course covers the analysis of user requirements the design of optimization models and the implementation of solutions to improve efficiency and performance. It introduces the key concepts of systems thinking emphasizing its application to both economic and hierarchical systems and highlights the application of simulation modeling optimization and management to economic systems.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in mathematics computer science or a closely related field.
  • Previous experience teaching a similar course at the graduate level.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing system models based on user requirements and applying diverse optimization techniques including Fourier-Motzkin elimination.
  • Proficiency in analyzing and implementing decision-making methods as well as optimizing resource allocation using various approaches such as integer programming mixed integer programming stochastic programming dynamic programming etc.
  • Knowledge of data mining techniques to uncover hidden insights from datasets.
  • Familiarity with software tools commonly used for optimization tasks e.g. Excel Solver
