Job Description

Family and Community Liaison Job Description The International Charter School (ICS) is a public elementary school of choice with a Two Way Immersion Spanish/English and Dual Language Portuguese/English program. Educators at the International Charter School value bilingualism and multiculturalism. They strive to foster a life-long love of learning in students. They demonstrate high levels of knowledge skills abilities and commitment to teach their students to become effective communicators who will use verbal written artistic and technological forms of communication to give send receive and interpret information in two languages: English and Spanish or English and Portuguese. They participate as members of a community of learners and are reflective. They contribute as members of a collaborative work environment and work to foster an environment free of bias prejudice and bullying. The mission of ICS is to integrate the diverse languages and cultures of the communities it serves by teaching all students in two languagesin Spanish and English or in Portuguese and Englishand helping children develop an appreciation of other cultures. Children learn to work collaboratively from their multiple experiences and backgrounds striving towards high standards of academic achievement. Have knowledge of the culture(s) and linguistic diversities of the ICSs population and/or have completed cultural competency training to enable them to carry out the duties of a School and Community verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with community members and and Community Liaison ResponsibilitiesFamily EngagementOrganize ongoing learning activities designed to help families understand support and advocate for the program. Welcome and accommodate varying forms of family support taking into consideration the talents and schedules of various family and community members. Capitalize on the varied linguistic and cultural resources in the community. Establish and maintain an advisory structure for input from family members and community members. Student Admissions and EnrollmentAspire to maintain full enrollment to the school by recruiting and retaining Enroll RI to conduct the annual lottery and maintain compliance with the RIDE new and IntakeOrganize and hold new student and family orientation in collaboration with other Multilingual Learners (MLLs) following Rhode Island Department of Education Guidelines. Obtain prior school records and maintain ICS databases and recordsFamiliarize all MLLs and their families with their new with and Support for FamiliesAssist families in participating in family engagement refer families to resources in the with families to promote homeschool connections. Plan for and engage in community-building activities with families to promote close relationships collaboration and other forms of sociocultural and accommodate varying forms of family support taking into consideration the talents and schedules of various family and community ICS as part of the school communication Wide Contribution and SupportParticipate in the governance evaluation and development of the International Charter and participate in staff meetings to discuss various aspects of the program. Work collaboratively with teachers families community members and other school employees to develop and implement projects policies vision mission regulations and rules of ICS. Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the International Charter School. Communicate concerns and ideas with colleagues parents students and community in a positive solution-oriented manner. Maintain confidentiality. Keep informed by reading school communications. Respond to requests for information in a timely manner. Professional DevelopmentTake responsibility for your own professional growth by participating in professional development activities provided by ICS and actively seek out ways to improve your practice. . Conduct ongoing self-evaluation to identify areas for continual improvement. Participate in annual personal and professional review to set goals for the next year. Solicit feedback from students families and colleagues to evaluate your own work.
