Job Summary:

Join the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) General Services Division and become a vital part of the team that keeps state government connected! As a Mail Clerk youll be at the heart of our bustling mail operations providing essential inter-agency mail service to 93 state agencies. Imagine the impact of processing approximatelypieces of outbound mail each year for 70 agencies! Your day will involve expertly sorting inbound mail meticulously preparing tracking sheets for important signature mail and even participating in security screening to ensure the integrity of our mail flow. Youll also enjoy the independence of managing daily mail routes loading your vehicle and making deliveries and collections across assigned locations. Beyond delivery youll gain experience in preparing outbound mail using specialized equipment like folder/inserters processing items through postage meters and shipping software and coordinating with various postal and package delivery services. This role offers the opportunity to operate a range of printers for diverse tasks including folding and inserting envelope printing and even check printing. Youll also utilize a large document scanner for efficient inbound mail processing and document archival. Finally youll be a key point of contact interacting directly with ADOA mail room customers both in person and over the phone to address their general inquiries. Job Duties:
  • Accurate sorting of inbound U.S. mail and inter-agency mail prepare tracking sheets for signature mail as needed
  • Load vehicle and deliver and collect mail on an assigned mail route several times daily
  • Process outbound mail through postage meter & shipping software and prepare for various postage and package delivery vendor pickups
  • Participate in security screening as needed of Governors Office inbound mail including x-raying operating Bio-hood opening inspecting & reading mail
  • Operate Folder / Inserter various printers and document scanners
  • Interact with ADOA mailroom customers directly or over the phone for general mailroom questions
Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Courier Routes

  • Postal and other shipping services
  • U.S. postal regulations
  • Basic mathematical calculations
  • Scheduling techniques
  • Office procedures

Skills in:

  • Operation and basic maintenance of postal metering equipment
  • Operation and basic maintenance of automated letter openers
  • Operation and basic maintenance of a folder/inserter
  • Operation of x-ray equipment
  • Operation of bio hood / purifier hepa filter
  • Operation of Mailroom vehicles
  • Operation of large document scanner
  • Operation of various printers

Ability to:

  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Determine when Bio Hood should be utilized
  • Determine appropriate shipping methods
  • Identify potential threats with mail
  • Operate postal machines

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Background and reference check including a criminal records verification
  • Valid Arizona drivers license.
