Job Description

Job Title:Multilingual Language Learners (MLL) Coordinator -with Teaching DutiesLocation:DistrictClass Title: Regular - Exempt- WTAEffective Date:08/28/2025 - 3 Year TermSalary Range:No stipendHours per week:Full time

FTE: 1.0 / Max Teaching Load: .4 / WTA CBA: Article 31 / 3 Year Term (August 2025 to June 30 2028)


General Statement:The MLL coordinator serves as the educational leader responsible for managing the policies regulations and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school and is specifically responsible for providing support to MLL students with language development strategies incorporating the WIDA ELD standards along with the CCSS/curriculum; and will also provide leadership to the MLL servicers of Multilingual Language Learners including Multilingual as a second language (ESL) and sheltered instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees creation and implementation of benchmark assessments and pacing guides for all levels of ELD classes.
  • Demonstrates appropriate best instructional practices in classrooms where MLL students are learning.
  • Coordinates the language assessment determines identification of incoming limited English proficient (LEP) students and works with counseling staff to ensure appropriate placement.
  • Monitors and evaluates MLL students progress.
  • Notifies parents of students identified for MLL program participation.
  • Schedules and oversees district MLL instruction programs in English as a second language.
  • Assists in establishing MLL primary language instruction classes as appropriate.
  • Organizes and monitors the MLL instructional assistant program.
  • Devises and maintains student and staff records and reports necessary to the MLL program.
  • Maintains appropriate inventories of materials.
  • Takes leadership role in the adoption development or revision of MLL curriculum for all MLL students.
  • Recommends adoption and use of varied instructional materials including textbooks reference books kits audio-visual aids and equipment for approved transitional second language programs.
  • Involves herself/himself in ongoing classroom visitations and demonstrations to promote best practices and sheltered English curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Plans and implements Title III activities and PD opportunities with the Assistant Superintendent specifically in the MLL program.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in teaching or administration
  • Education:
    • Bachelors Degree required.
  • Certification & Licensing:
    • Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements and or certifications for this specific position.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Walk climb stairs bend and lift up to 45lbs.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must provide a current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
