Job Description

Pay Grade: I

(General Summary):

This position reports to the Resource Development Social Services Supervisor for Fulton and Dekalb Counties. This position works with Fulton and Dekalb Counties to secure placements for children approve relatives and foster parent applicants and support families once approved. This position is housed in Dekalb County.


Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision theCaregiver Recruitment and Retention Specialist Ihas theability to assess individual and family strengths limitations and needs; non-judgmental strength based positive attitude towards families in crisis; ability to synthesize information and write thorough reports; ability to work independently and as an effective team member; sensitivity to an awareness of cultural ethnic and socioeconomic differences and the ability to organize and prioritize work.


  • Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Specialist I for placement finding:

    • Identify placement for youth in care.
    • Complete all required screenings for placements.
    • Staff cases jointly with program areas and community providers to determine needs of youth and best match.
    • Maintain clear accurate and concise documentation; ensure all documentation is entered within 72 hours of contact.
    • Remain knowledgeable about current/emerging demographic and cultural changes to assist customers effectively.
    • Be able to solve problems in crisis situations.
    • Develop community relationships with providers and foster families.
    • Adhere to all agency policy governing children and the rights of the caregivers.
    • Participate in Placement Resource Engagement Meetings with Child Placing Agency and other Community partners to strategize recruitment efforts.
    • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
    • Engage in required statewide and regional travel.
    • Recruit prospective caregivers through direct and indirect marketing concepts.
    • Conducts needs assessment service provision and advocacy caregivers.
    • Remain knowledgeable about current/emerging demographic and cultural changes to assist customers effectively.
    • Adhere to all agency policy governing children and the rights of the caregivers.
    • Promotes awareness of programs within the assigned communities leverage partnership with community agencies to maximize services and supports for caregivers.
  • Core Competencies:
    • Excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse families.
    • Ability to leverage partnerships within the community.
    • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Masters degree from an approved accredited college or university and twenty four (24) months of case management experience in a social services program of the Division of Family and Children Services or similar social services case management experience in a human services delivery program (child support family/children services juvenile justice public health mental health military health care/morale welfare and recreation or comparable private social services agencies)

  • Note:
    • Applicants must pass the standard agency testing protocol for the position in which they are hired in order to maintain the position.
    • Although agency employees are authorized to telework temporarily employees are subject to be called into the office as needed.
