Job Description

**The salary range for this position is between $21.50 - $27.00 per hour depending on experience.**

This is a part-time position with working hours primarily in the evenings and weekends.

The Museum of Flight is seeking a people person with on-site event planning experience to join its Private Events team. This part-time position is perfect for someone who is looking to advance or enhance their career in venue management in a museum environment with multiple spaces. The client experience is essential. We are looking for some whos just as service right person can work well with a wide variety of clients can problem solve and pays close attention to detail.

Summary

The Private Events Lead supports the mission of The Museum of Flight as the day-of lead for events primarily evenings weekends and outside of regular operating hours. Success in the role requires independent timely and sound decisions in a high-pressure environment. This position supports a diverse array of client offerings including business and private meetings conferences receptions dinners celebrations and Museum-driven events. This position utilizes appropriate resources to ensure desired outcomes serving as liaison between clients vendors and Museum staff including maintaining compliance with Museum policies while upholding its high standard of customer service and visitor experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed both major and minor which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.   1. Represents the Museum during assigned private events acting as a liaison between clients vendors and internal staff such as Security Facilities Audio/Visual Volunteer Services and Visitor Services Departments.
  2. Ensures client and caterer compliance within established regulations and uphold the Museums policies procedures and values.
  3. Provides client assistance and executes Private Events operating procedures utilizing available resources to ensure the success of Private and Museum Events.
  4. Occasionally supports the Facilities in event related set-up and break-down of spaces.
  5. Occasionally supports Public Programs for day-of event needs where requested.
  6. Supports Private Event operations including tasks such as wristband distribution centerpiece upkeep and linen inventories.
  7. Provides post-event reports for respective Private Event documentation.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in event coordination hospitality or related field is required

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of events coordination and catering logistics.

Skills

  • Proven organizational skills with a high-level attention to detail.
  • Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment

Abilities

  • Demonstrated customer service mindset including dependability and managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Comfortable making independent timely and sound decisions in a high-pressure environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively with respect in both positive and negative situations with strong emphasis on communication to large diverse groups.
  • Ability to work independently and take asynchronous direction as well as working as part of a team.

  • This position work hours are flexible in nature ranging from 0-26 hours per week.
  • Assigned shifts are primarily evening and weekend hours based on Museum event need.
  • Professional attire is required.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds with assistance.
  • The ability to focus bend carry reach to the side front and overhead push pull walk stand twist and squat are occasional requirements in a normal work setting.
  • Ability to move through physical Museum campus spaces is required including occasionally outdoors in variable weather.
  • On-site attendance is essential to perform the duties of this position.
  • Must be able to be physically active throughout the shift.

Benefits

The Museum of Flight offers part-time employees benefits which include 2 weeks of accrued sick leave (80 hours) per year for the first 4 years 10 paid working holidays 403(b) retirement plan and a 25% discount at the Museum Store.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $27.00 per hour depending on experience.
