Position Details
All 9th grade students at Charlotte Country Day School participate in a course that bridges the gap between the middle school and the high school experience. This class meets twice per schedule rotation during the first year of Upper School. The candidate should be familiar with teaching this age group and demonstrate commitment to student-centered learning. Key components of the curriculum include Executive Functions Physical and Mental Wellness and Healthy Relationships. Preferred candidates will have a background in teaching these skills to adolescents.
Essential Responsibilities include:
Teaching the equivalent of four sections in the Upper School.
Collaborating with administrators and colleagues in the evaluation and regular revision of the relevant Upper School curriculum.
Attending professional meetings educational conferences and faculty training workshops to maintain and improve professional practice.
Serving as an advisor to a cohort of Upper School students.
Being a leader in the schools co-curricular program in meaningful ways outside of the classroom through coaching club advising etc.
Other duties as assigned including attending regular faculty meetings professional learning days and additional student-related supervision responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education
o Bachelors degree or post-graduate work in Education or a related subject area. A background in Adolescent Psychology is preferred but not required.
Teaching Experience
o Significant experience teaching adolescents.
Communication Skills
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Instructional Technology
o Understanding of instructional technology and its integration into curriculum design and classroom practice.
