DescriptionApt Resources is seeking a highly qualified Senior Legal Counsel to join the legal team at one of our esteemed clients. This pivotal position requires an individual with extensive legal experience in corporate law commercial agreements and regulatory compliance. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide expert legal guidance to support the organizations strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to various departments including corporate governance compliance and commercial transactions.
- Lead the implementation of new compliance protocols and guidelines across the organization. Monitor their effectiveness and suggest improvements to ensure continuous adherence to legal standards.
- Lead regular audits of organizational practices against compliance standards and legal requirements. Identify risk areas and develop mitigation strategies to prevent legal disputes and enhance compliance.
- Review and negotiate contracts agreements and other legal documents to protect the organizations interests.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes working closely with external counsel when necessary.
- Support corporate transactions such as mergers acquisitions and joint ventures.
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on legal and compliance matters.
- Stay updated on changes to relevant laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
Requirements - Bachelors degree in Law Business or a similar discipline from a reputable university.
- 12 years of experience in similar roles in large companies of which at least 5 years are in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities demonstrating a strong need for effective leadership skills.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking ability with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Solid leadership and people management skills.
- Established understanding of power/energy and water sectors emerging trends technologies and key players.
- A demonstrable track record of working at the highest standards and delivering outstanding results including managing change and delivering on growth strategies.
- Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (significant plus).
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Extensive skills in leading teams from a multi-cultural background.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work with key stakeholders senior executives management team and external partners/advisors through collaboration & teamwork in a non-hierarchical relationship framework.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.
