Multilingual Specialist
Wenatchee High School
1.0 FTE Continuing Contract

DESCRIPTION: Provide English as a Second Language support to students in grades 9-12 as well as support instruction in other highly qualified areas as needed. Provide specialized instruction and appropriate interventions for students that are learning English utilizing effective assessment-driven research-based strategies and curriculum. Provide specialized instruction and appropriate interventions for students that are continuing to learn English across content utilizing effective assessment-driven research-based strategies. Work collaboratively with administrators classroom teachers para educators Student Study Team and parents. Serve as a resource to staff members regarding support for students. Participate in the district ELD teacher team. Coordinate student programs with basic education and Title/LAP/Migrant staff to provide successful and inclusionary programs that follow state and federal rules and regulations. Comply with funding source regulations. Plan implement and evaluate classroom instruction and activity programs consistent with building and district curriculum; provide for individual needs of assigned students. Participate in appropriate activities; support programs and building/district in-service education programs. Attending building/district meetings and conferences as required. Ability/experience in providing enrichment opportunities to high school students. Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Washington State Certification with ESL/TESL endorsement required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Spanish language endorsement preferred. Additionalhigh school endorsements preferred. Experience working with high school students preferred. Experience/ability to analyze student assessment results; experience working with small groups of students; experience team teaching and working with adult learners in a collaborative setting. Ability to instruct English as a Second Language to students. Demonstrated knowledge of the curriculum and needs of students. Evidence of classroom management skills. Experience in implementing a prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of principles of second language acquisition sheltered language instruction and of bilingual education. Experience working with students of diverse linguistic cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to work as a team player and understand the needs of bilingual students. Required prolonged sitting or standing. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this job.
