Position Description

About the Position:

The RTI/MTSS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the (RTI) Response to Intervention framework and (MTSS) Model to Support Students with diverse learning needs while improving educational outcomes. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while providing guidance and resources to staff students and families. This position will serve as a liaison between school staff and parents.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework to include RTI.
  • Facilitate RTI meetings to review student data and determine appropriate interventions by collaborating with teachers and specialists to design and monitor academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Provide instructional support to teachers to support students academically while combining different approaches for interventions.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends and inform decision-making by accessing data from state and local databases.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of RTI activities.
  • Prepare reports for school leadership and district administration regarding program effectiveness and compliance.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Deep understanding of RTI (Response to Intervention) / MTSS (multi-tiered system of support) frameworks.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of current research on academic behavioral and social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions.
  • Proficiency with all types of technology.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to the prohibition of discrimination of individuals
  • Ability to travel to all Excel Academy Campuses.

Additional Requirements:
  • Upon receiving a conditional job offer each applicant must undergo a criminal background check a tuberculosis (TB) skin test and a drug screening as well as provide certified copies of their educational transcripts.
  • In the event of a declared public emergency by the county staff may be reassigned to different duties facilities or placed under the supervision of another county department.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • This position involves working with challenging youth where use of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies may be necessary to ensure the safety of both youth and staff.
  • Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and carry liability insurance that meets or exceeds the minimum legal requirements.

The Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) is committed to the protection of the public utilizing intervention strategies that are community-based family-oriented and least restrictive while emphasizing responsibility and accountability of both parent and child. HCJPD provides supervision and services to youth between the ages of 10 and 17 who are under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court. HCJPD is the largest juvenile probation department in Texas with approximately 1100 employees and over 3500 youth referred to the department annually.

  • $58094.41 - $72177.91 Annually
  • Depends on Qualifications
  • Based on 26 Pay Periods

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
