Job Description

The primary function of the Product Manager is to plan organize and control an assigned product line(s) from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing financial and corporate growth objectives. $80000-$110000 DOE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducts market share analysis on assigned product lines identifying organizational and product position and market opportunities.
  • Participates in overall product strategy research and analysis of market data.
  • Provides market financial and technical justification for product selection and definition.
  • Creates and executes annual product marketing plans monthly promotions and budgets for assigned lines which align our vendor inventory pricing and market development strategy with our sales budget and growth plan.
  • Reviews progress continually through product life cycle to ensure attainment of objectives. Includes replacement and obsolescence management.
  • Responsible for training customers both internal and external on assigned product lines.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT

  • Acts as liaison for our vendors to foster a relationship and position which produces the most favorable pricing service and incentives to the company.
  • Participates in the company vendor performance program through vendor scoring review sessions and goal and action planning; makes recommendations for program improvements.
  • Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical financial marketing and sales information for product line.
  • Onboards new vendors to broaden grow or improve our product offering and position.

INVENTORY

  • Creates the product line merchandising & inventory strategy to meet GMROI objectives. Executes these initiatives by partnering with DMS Team and the Branch Managers on effective forecasting service level assignments logistics solutions and dead/excess inventory tactics.
  • Recommends and justifies strategic buys that create a financial or market advantage.
  • Works in partnership with the DMS Team to monitor cost structure and proper inventory levels to support our sales and inventory plan to budget.

PRICING

  • Creates the product line pricing and margin strategy partnering with Strategic Marketing & Development and the Branch Managers on customer specific pricing matrices and other pricing tools and methods.
  • Recommends and justifies product mix and customer mix initiatives to drive total margin performance.
  • Works in partnership with Strategic Marketing & Development and Sales teams to monitor pricing system overrides and execution.

MARKET DEVELOPMENT & SUPPORT

  • Leads application support and product training initiatives for assigned product lines.
  • Creates tools and reporting that support market and account penetration revenue growth and margin optimization.
  • Develops and conducts product group promotions to increase sales and profits.
  • Solicits and communicates necessary competitive information and new market trends to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Assists sales personnel in the quote process as necessary.
  • Travels to meet with vendors and company personnel as required.
  • Attends trade and industry meetings shows and conventions as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelors degree from accredited four-year college or university preferred.
  • 5 years related experience preferably in the HVAC distribution industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word PowerPoint and Outlook; advanced Excel skills a plus. Familiarity with AS400 database preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and strict deadlines.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization is needed.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest proportions percentages area circumference and volume.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office. Experience with AS400 database preferred.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral or written form. Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

Attendance is required Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. or within normal business hours as established by the supervisor.
