The team member we are searching for:

The Civil Service Advocacy and Mediation Services Division represents County departments in matters related to employee actions before the County of Los Angeles Civil Service Commission and Employee Relations Commission. These matters include disciplinary appeals discretionary examination appeals and claims of violations of Civil Service Rule 25 (i.e. discrimination and other adverse administrative action allegations). Analysts also provide professional human resources consultation services to all departments related to performance management issues.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

Option I:One year of professional full-time experience involving investigation of employee disciplinary matters and the presentation of disciplinary hearings or arbitration before a third-party neutral at the level of Human Resources Analyst II.

Option II:Graduation with a Juris Doctor degree or its equivalent from a law school accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners or approved by the American Bar Association or by the California Post-Secondary Education Commission.


To receive credit for your education include a copy of your official diploma official transcript or letter/certificate from an accredited institution to your application at the time of filing or email it to within seven (7) days from application submission date. The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English; if it is in a foreign language it must be translated and evaluated for equivalency to U.S. standards. A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

II Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

You must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible list.

Multiple-choice and/or simulation assessments are not reviewable by candidates per CSR 7.19.

Transfer of test components
If you recently took identical components for other exams the test responses may be automatically transferred to this examination. This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams and your responses could be transferred to that exam.

Test Preparation
We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

Veterans Credit
If you served in the military and were honorably discharged you may qualify for Veterans Credit. We will need a copy of your form DD214 to review so please include that with your application or email it to as early as possible for prompt and smooth processing.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months following the date of promulgation. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the County of Los Angeles Department of Human Resources Advocacy Division.

Applications will be processed on an as-received basis and promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
