Job Description

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is currently seeking Tennis Sales Clerk to join our team at our beautiful oceanfront property!

SUMMARY

Obtains or receives merchandise monitors shop activity totals bill accepts payments and provides exceptional customer service to members guests employees and visitors. Promotes and follows LJBTC Inc.s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets customers and offers assistance both in person and in telephone interactions.

  • Stocks shelves counters or tables with merchandise.

  • Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales.

  • Assists members and guests with setting up games.

  • Stamps marks or tags prices on merchandise.

  • Obtains merchandise requested by customer or receives merchandise selected by customer.

  • Obtains information from customers for special or mail orders for merchandise.

  • Answers customers questions concerning location price and use of merchandise.

  • Totals price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill.

  • Accepts payments. Wraps or bag merchandise for customers.

  • Cleans shelves counters or tables.

  • Removes and sends receipts to front desk for processing.

  • Calculates sales discount to determine price.

  • Keeps record of sales and prepares periodic inventory of stock.

  • Schedules tennis lessons for members and guests with Club Pros.

  • Hangs signs on courts to promote events.

  • Reserves court time for Club pros and special events.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

OUTCOME

The servicing of guests and members at the Tennis Shop in an efficient and positive manner will influence the customers perception of the company as friendly helpful professional and reliable and will help generate merchandise sales.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong tennis game and knowledge preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in English to customers members employees and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work in an efficient and professional manner with guests and members under limited supervision.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

INTERACTION

Interacts daily with guests and members and the following departments: accounting membership front desk executive personnel engineering purchasing catering human resources security reservations group sales housekeeping golf and massage therapy.


SCHEDULING

This company operates seven days a week 24 hours a day. Shifts will generally be rotated as much as possible to be fair to everyone. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift if business or task assignments demand. In addition it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.
