What Youll be Doing
This position is directly responsible to maintain construct install troubleshoot repair all air distribution systems services which provide services to the DHS DYC PRC and DOC facilities. HVAC-R services provided include maintaining repairing installing and coordinator of chill water and heating water hydronic systems absorption and reciprocating chillers conformance of CFC regulations and Title 15 regulations of EPA all air distribution systems which include VAV systems multi-zone systems local fan-coil and cabinet unit heaters and all associated interface to the Siemens Building Automation system.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain troubleshoot repair and install all HVAC equipment in compliance with manufacturers recommendations local codes Health department Joint Commission and ACA standards within a large multi building campus environment.
Performs preventative maintenance and repair tasks on large HVAC/R systems ranging from hospital environments to small residential applications including: filter changes coil cleaning and other related work.
Monitor and test heating and cooling closed loops and cooling towers for water treatment levels and coordinate with vendors to correct out of tolerance conditions.
Maintain repair troubleshoot and install large scale refrigeration equipment in compliance to manufacturers recommendations local codes Health department The Joint Commission ACA and ASHRAE standards. Understands principles and experience with refrigeration recovery evacuation and charging understands the installation and sizing of refrigerant piping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Monitor Install maintain troubleshoot and repair building automation controls and systems to ensure the proper operation of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and ensure all environmental conditions meet customer requirements. These controls include but not limited to electric pneumatic and DDC.
Reads wiring diagrams use multimeters to read voltage current and resistance values.
Troubleshoot electrical and low voltage circuits.
Utilizes Ohms Law.
Analyzes logs printouts other materials and information that apply to the operation of the mechanical systems. Utilizes all information to solve operational problems.
Responsible for the maintenance and repair of pumps and control valves (Electrical and pneumatic). Repair of cooling towers absorption chillers water cooled chillers and direct expansion unit over 150 tons to include replacement of piping components and electronic systems.
Maintain the fire and smoke control systems in the air handling duct and exhaust systems to include communicating with customers on repairs that may affect their office or department including facilities management office while conforming to all provisions of NFPA.
Responsible for HVAC fabrication processes and utilizing HVAC machines and tools for HVAC system fabrications.
Must comply with the safety program and tool and key control.
Snow removal.
Other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time in-person essential position. Shift work may be required. Must be available for and respond to call backs to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency in a timely manner.
Essential Positions. Positions that perform essential law enforcement highway maintenance and other support services directly necessary for the health safety and welfare of patients residents and inmates of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can be only FLSA non exempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.
Call Back applies when an eligible employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift.

Experience in HVAC/R troubleshooting repairs and adjustments to a variety of different types of HVAC/R systems for patient client and laboratory comfort within a large multi building campus environment preference will be given to individual that has documented maintenance repair and troubleshooting experience installation of new equipment has no merit.
Demonstrated experience performing work order based maintenance services.
Excellent oral comprehension skills the ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Excellent troubleshooting skills -- determines cause of operating error and decides on course of action. Excellent customer service skills; anticipates and understands customer needs and expectations; takes action appropriately; understands the impact of decisions on customers.
Excellent attention to detail.
Basic computer skills in email Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to read wiring diagrams use multimeters to read voltage current and resistance values.
Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and low voltage circuits.
Knowledge of Ohms Law.
Working knowledge of maintenance and repair of pumps and control valves (Electrical and Pneumatic).
Mechanical FABRICATION Knowledge of HVAC fabrication processes and the use of HVAC machines and tools utilized for HVAC system fabrications.
Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hours per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications. Must possess and maintain a current and valid Universal CFC Certificate.
Must possess and maintain a current valid non-restricted Colorado drivers license.
Travel This position will be required to drive State Vehicles as part of daily work assignment from site to site equipped with tools to perform daily duties. May be required to travel to training and meetings.
Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or without interruption.
Must be available for shift work. May be required to work various hours for coverage outside of normal business hours.
