The Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays an essential role in shaping and sharing Laramie County Library Systems voice across a variety of platforms. The individual in this position will be responsible for developing compelling content that reflects the librarys mission values and strategic goals. The coordinator is responsible for developing and managing content across a range of platforms including social media newsletters brochures internal communications flyers posters and the librarys website. The individual in this position will manage the librarys social media presence help maintain website content and support internal and external communications to promote library services and increase community engagement.
This position plays a key role in shaping the librarys public image building engagement and supporting strategic marketing and communication goals. Responsibilities include writing and editing content producing graphics supporting event promotion and managing its social media presence. The coordinator assists with ensuring consistent branding across all channels and contributing to a broad range of marketing and communications efforts. The position offers the opportunity to lead projects contribute ideas and play a meaningful part in connecting the community to the library.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in marketing communications public relations or related field; 3 years of relevant experience in social media management and/or marketing; or any equivalent combination of education experience and training that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Considerable knowledge in the use of or demonstrated ability to learn current software applications such as Microsoft Office Pro WordPress and other applicable software
Good project management skills and ability to meet project deadlines
Excellence in written and oral communication and relationship building
Ability to troubleshoot software programs
Skill in working with public entities committees or teams and individuals with varied backgrounds
Good creative and interpretive skills
Working knowledge of public library operations
Ability to work with limited supervision with an aptitude for detailed work and proficiency in prioritizing tasks
PREFFERED CERTIFICATIONS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of video production and editing especially as it pertains to social media and advertising
Familiarity of WordPress to assist in maintenance of website content when necessary or demonstrated ability to learn basic web design content management accessibility and usability
Knowledge of SEO keyword research Canva CapCut (or similar) Adobe Creative Suite and Google Analytics
SELECTION PROCESS

WORK SCHEDULE
Work schedule will predominantly be normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or a variation thereof) Monday through Friday but may consist of weekend and evening hours as well. Anyone who works for the library must be willing to work anytime the library is open. Laramie County Library (Cheyenne) open hours are Monday Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday Saturday and Sunday 10:00 5:00 p.m. All employees are scheduled to attend monthly staff meetings and in-service days in Cheyenne.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The essential duties and responsibilities of this job require the employee to move or manipulate moderately heavy equipment boxes carts files and/or stacks of material from one location to another.
BENEFITS
LCLS pays 100% of the employee contributions to the Wyoming Retirement System (WRS). The total rate is currently 18.62% of gross earnings (the employee rate is 9.25% and the employer rate is 9.37% of gross earnings). WRS is a pension plan that will pay lifetime benefits regardless of the account balance when age and service requirements are met.
Employees pay into Social Security.
LCLS also pays 100% of the premium for $25000 term life insurance policy for the employee.
This position receives paid time off for 13 holidays vacation and sick leave and an annual personal day.
Vacation leave is accrued based on the number of hours worked so is not a lump sum but is earned over time. Employees are eligible to use vacation leave after six months of employment (prior commitments negotiable). For the first two years employees earn up to two weeks of vacation leave per year. The number of weeks of vacation leave increase with years of service.
Medical insurance and a separate dental plan are available at the employees option. LCLS pays 85% of the cost for the medical and dental insurance premiums and the employee pays the remaining 15%.
A deferred compensation plan prepaid legal services agreement vision coverage and other supplemental insurance options are also available at the employees expense.
Employees may join the YMCA without an initiation fee.
Employees may join the Cheyenne-Laramie County Employees Federal Credit Union.
