EXECUTIVE ACQUISITIONS EDITOR BRAIN AND LIFE SCIENCES MIT Press to focus on acquiring 2025 high-impact trade and professional titles annually that deepen public understanding of neuroscience psychology biology and related fields; commission innovative and field-defining books for general professional and academic audiences; build and maintain strong relationships with faculty researchers and prospective authors especially at MIT and peer institutions; conduct market and field research to identify publishing opportunities aligned with emerging scientific trends; evaluate proposals and manuscripts oversee peer review and guide authors through revisions and publication; present titles to the editorial board and collaborate with production marketing and sales teams; represent MIT Press at conferences and on campus; build reputation and visibility for the list; supervise and mentor junior acquisitions staff.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelors degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of editorial experience including trade publishing familiarity with the brain and life sciences and the academic publishing landscape excellent editorial judgment communication and negotiation skills; proven ability to manage multiple projects with strategic and commercial insight. PREFERRED: strong acquisitions track record a wide professional network and deep knowledge of the life sciences. Job #24958-10
