Job Description
The OTOP Intake Social Worker will play a key role in providing culturally responsive trauma-informed person-centered harm reduction substance use counseling and social work services. The incumbent will support patients enrolling in an opioid treatment program provide comprehensive assessment crisis intervention case management individual therapy group therapy and substance use services. Services will be provided at multiple locations including OTOPs main clinic at San Francisco General Hospital OTOP mobile van sites and San Francisco County Jail.
The incumbent will work with the OTOP Intake Team and OTOP Deputy Medical Director to identify opportunities and interventions to improve patient services based on Community Advisory Board feedback and clinical data analysis. The incumbent will collaborate with Jail Health Services to assist clients in meeting their needs while in-custody and improve continuity of care between Jail Health Services and community-based providers. Additional responsibilities include supporting the identification implementation and monitoring of contingency management or motivational incentives based on participant identified goals. The incumbent may provide evidence-based talk therapy and case management to a select cohort of patients having trouble accessing mental health/psychiatric services despite receiving referrals and demonstrated motivation for treatment engagement.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $37.56 - $50.31 (Hourly Rate).

- Experience with opioid use disorder treatment including medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD)
- Knowledge of Federal State and City/County Opiate Treatment Program (OTP) regulations. Aware of institutional polices regarding the provision of services and conduct of research in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR.
- Experience with Methasoft Avatar and Epic.
- Experience and knowledge of perinatal mental health needs when engaged in MOUD and family systems.
- Experience working with unhoused patients.
- Experience working with immigrant populations.
- Experience working with justice involved populations.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in substance use and/or mental health field with low-income culturally diverse populations.
- Registration/eligible for application for registration as an associate social worker associate marriage family therapist or associate professional clinical counselor as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners

Opiate Treatment Outpatient Program (OTOP) is operated through the UCSF Department of Psychiatry at San Francisco General Hospital in partnership with the San Francisco Department of Public Health. OTOP provides evidence-based outpatient treatment for substance use disorders with particular emphasis on medications for opioid addiction treatment.
