The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized and collaborativeCAP Mechanical Estimator (Engineering Specialist I) to be a part of the DECM Construction Construction Logistics Team. This position will provide plumbing fire protection and mechanical material takeoff and estimating for challenging yet rewarding force account new construction renovation and major maintenance projects completed by DAC in-house construction personnel.
A successful candidate for this CAP Mechanical Estimator (Engineering Specialist I) position will provide DECM Constructions plumbing fire protection and mechanical construction logistics team with material takeoffs estimating and procurement of plumbing and mechanical trades materials and equipment. This position will be responsible for reviewing construction plans developing a material takeoff estimating material costs procuring materials and receiving materials prior to the start of all projects.
A successful candidate should have previous experience in the installation and/or estimating of plumbing fire protection and/or mechanical systems efficient decision-making capabilities and effective communication. This position works under the direct management of a Lead Mechanical Estimator.
This position requires the daily commute to DECMs Office Complex off Yonkers Road in Raleigh NC. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The salary grade for this position is NC13. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Associate s degree in an applicable area of engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution and six (6) years of progressive technician experience; or High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and eight (8) years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
We support the Institutions and Facilities directly and indirectly by installing and maintaining kitchen plumbing mechanical electrical and electronics equipment. The DECM-Engineering team consists of experts in architectural and engineering design property services project management and sustainability efficiency and resiliency (SE&R). These services support new construction renovation and like-in-kind and upgrade maintenance repairs to the agencys physical plant while ensuring compliance with the NCDOA State Construction Office.
Through valuable rehabilitation and training for offenders we aim to improve recidivism rates. DECM-Construction undertakes construction renovation and major maintenance projects that involve longer periods of resource allocation with a focus on enhancing the departments infrastructure assets. DECM-Maintenance which encompasses the Mountain Regional Yard Piedmont Regional Yard Coastal Regional Yard and three Satellite Yards provides essential plumbing HVAC/R and electrical preventative prescriptive and routine maintenance services to all Institutions and Facilities. Additionally our maintenance efforts include specific areas such as telecommunications electronic intrusion systems (EIS) fencing cameras fire alarms and energy management systems all focused on maintaining the Departments infrastructure assets.
