Essential Job Duties

Description

  • The Mechanical Inspector will support clients Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within Clients Capital Improvement Program.
  • Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Mechanical Inspector.
  • Preferred candidates are those with additional ICC certifications as Electrical and Plumbing Inspector.
  • Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years prior to assignment.
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift - day swing or night - as required to meet the contractors construction schedule.

Duties

  • Inspects the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure conformance to plans specifications contracts permits environmental documents agreements for work and may provide construction inspection support.
  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of mechanical electrical and plumbing systems across building and terminal construction projects ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings submittals RFIs and change orders.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE and HOW of all observed construction activities ensuring accuracy clarity and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues deficiencies or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g. NEC NFPA 70 70E 72) mechanical and plumbing codes and client-specific standards.
  • Track and document time-and-material work field changes and job quantities
  • Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
  • Support special inspections and testing activities coordinating with engineers contractors and third-party agencies as needed.

Perform inspections of Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) installations including but not limited to:

  • Domestic Water and Sewage Systems.
  • Venting fire sprinklers and gas piping.
  • HVAC systems (air handlers chillers boilers ductwork).
  • Smoke Control Systems.
  • Mechanical ventilation and exhaust.
  • Fire and life safety integration (e.g. smoke dampers).
  • Mechanical and plumbing shutdowns lockout / tagout procedures.
  • Commissioning and balancing reports.
  • Underground utilities and duct banks.
  • High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels.
  • Conduit racks conductors and grounding systems.
  • Interior and exterior lighting systems.
  • Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems.
  • Electrical shutdowns lockout/tagout procedures and breaker coordination.
  • Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as:
    • Low-voltage systems (voice/data security access control)
    • Door card readers security cameras and public address (P.A.) systems
    • Communication cabling and equipment rooms

Qualifications

Required Qualification:- Years of Experience/Education/Certificates/Training:

  • Mechanical inspection staff shall have Three (3) years or more experience performing mechanical inspections for Building Construction.
  • Mechanical inspection staff possess a thorough knowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation of plumbing heating air conditioning and refrigeration installations.
  • Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical.
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years.
  • Fall protection and harness training.
  • Confined Space Entry Training.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Additional Current ICC certifications as Electrical and Plumbing Inspector
  • NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years is preferred.
  • Training & knowledge of NFPA -70 70E & 72 is preferred.
  • Experience at the journey-level as an electrician with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works institutional commercial or industrial settings.
  • Plumbing experience (journeyman/master level) with progression into inspection.
  • Experience inspecting mechanical systems of large-scale commercial industrial or public buildings.
  • Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.
  • Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders including contractors engineers and city officials.
  • Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
  • Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency.
  • A strong understanding of diverse code requirements.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

Wage Requirement

  • Starting Salary range for this job is $135000.00- $163400.00. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill education experience and working environment
