Your Opportunity
The Shopfront Youth Legal Centre is a free legal service for homeless and disadvantaged young people. It is operated by Herbest Smith Freehills law firm in partnership with Mission Australia and The Salvation Army.
This role is to assist with client intake and social support building and maintaining networks with other services and maintaining links between legal and casework aspects of the service. The role will manage and complete a range of administrative tasks vital to efficient running of the service.
This is 38 hours/week on max term until 30th June 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in dealing with new referrals and enquiries
- Provide ad hoc social support and referrals for clients and help build capacity for Shopfront lawyers and other staff to make referrals for clients
- Help to build and maintain networks with other services
- Complete a range of administrative duties for the efficient running of the service including assisting team members and Principal Solicitor with statistics reports referral letters website internal resources directories etc.
Requirements for Success
- Demonstrated experience in an administrative role in a community service setting
- Demonstrated experience in working with/advocating for young people with complex needs
- An interest in working with young people with legal issues especially those who are involved in the criminal justice system
- Competent in using MS office products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid First aid certificate or willingness to get one
Before starting work with us you will need to undertake a national police history check qualifications and referee checks and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
