The DSP V (DSP Supervisor) functions for the Home and Community-Based (HCS) Program but can include Texas Home Living (TxHmL) and General Revenue (GR) programs. Services are provided in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code and the IDD Service Definition Manual provided by HHSC. The DSP Supervisor works under the direction of the IDD Community Services Program Director. Specific job duties include but are not limited to supervisory requirements overseeing the operations and management of group homes assisting with employee hiring and monitoring staff scheduling on-call program related office assignments data entry assisting with appointments and supervision of the assigned staff. Additional duties include but are not limited to on-call rotation group home mentor assisting with group home coverage as needed and other tasks delegated by the IDD Community Services Program Director.

ESSENTIAL TASKS

  • Ensure DSP staff submit requests for groceries supplies maintenance and all other requests timely and ensure fulfillment of requests are met regularly with accuracy
  • Ensure that shopping orders are submitted appropriately while maintaining cost effective spending
  • Collaborate with DSP office staff to ensure groceries and supplies are picked up regularly and assist with allocation of orders to group homes/ food pantry within a timely manner
  • Cover open shifts at group homes due to DSP staff being unavailable the supervisor will be the primary coverage
  • Enter assigned program services accurately and timely for billing purposes
  • Ensure appropriate bookkeeping and organization for all aspects of supervisory and billing responsibilities for all over seeable programs and services
  • Manage transportation services schedule in collaboration with the DSP office staff
  • Submit maintenance requests regarding vehicles/ homes to appropriate personnel and Maintenance Specialist
  • Communicate transportation needs to DSP office staff for accurate scheduling & fulfillment.
  • Ensure all group home emergency drills are performed and recorded as required and inspection findings are fulfilled timely in collaboration with DSP office staff
  • Ensure communication from DSP staff are addressed timely by communicating with necessary personnel as needed including but not limited to group home communication book service delivery logs and personal employee related occurrences.
  • Maintain assigned DSP staff schedule with accuracy recording all movements of scheduled work assignments while ensuring coverage needs are met within a costly manner avoiding excessive OT when possible.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director with the management of on-call protocol and initiatives
  • Assigned regularly on the on-call schedule and serves as backup on-call support when DSP Mentors are unavailable
  • Work closely with the Program Director and report concerns or initiatives regarding any of the above-mentioned assignments/ tasks.
  • Complete all assigned duties by Program Director when advised

Qualifications

EDUCATION TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Position requires either a High School Diploma GED or 3 letters of reference and the completion of a MHMR Concho Valley competency test.
  • 2 year(s) experience working in a group home environment required
  • 2 year(s) home lead/management experience preferred

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Texas Drivers License required.
  • Must not have more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years.
  • Must be insurable and remain insurable on Centers insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Knowledge of behavioral direct support techniques as well as the ability to perform PMAB techniques.
  • Skills to sufficiently administer CPR or First Aid in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of personal assistance techniques such as: assisting with eating bathing and toileting.
  • Knowledge of turning and lifting techniques is required.
  • Interpersonal skills for positive interactions with people served and co-workers are required.
  • Skills necessary to read understand and act upon written material and verbal requests.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

SHIFT

M-F 8am to 5pm must possess and maintain availability for on-call support for staff coverage when someone is unavailable for a shift flexibility available upon approval of Program Director
