Job Description

Licensed as a registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as a group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers or 12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering-related research (i.e. conducting engineering-related research only applies to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites must possess a valid drivers license.

-Or licensed as a registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 2 85642; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites must possess a valid drivers license.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required but not for the mandated registration.

The district 12 Capital Programs Department is seeking licensed Professional Engineers in the State of Ohio who are passionate about public service conscientious self-directed adaptable problem solvers and take the initiative to manage issues independently. The candidates should have a good understanding of engineering principles design standards and the ODOT project development process. The candidates should also have proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and contract documents. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting and building relationships with various team members project stakeholders public officials contractors and external customers. All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one-year probationary period.

This position is overtime exempt based on FLSA Standards.

If this position is filled internally the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the Ohio Revised Codeonly.

This position has been designated as a Career Professional position per the Ohio Revised Code 5501.20.

Background Check:

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicants prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
