DescriptionUnder the guidance of the Natural Resource Services (NRS) Water Resources Manager this position oversees manages and ensures the regulatory compliance of Church owned and operated drinking water systems in North America. This role plays a vital part in advancing the Churchs mission by ensuring the availability of clean and safe drinking water to support its operations and the well-being of Gods children.
Work Environment:
Work conditions are split between indoor office work and occasionally working outside. Often involves walking and hiking sometimes through waterways. May involve working in outside conditions that include inclement weather cold and heat.
Physical Demands:
Must have a valid drivers license and clear driving record to use Church-owned vehicles.
Must be able to navigate walking and hiking in rough rocky and forested conditions.
Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to move about inside the office to access office equipment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position while working at a computer.
ResponsibilitiesDrinking Water Management and Compliance (70%)
Ensure regulatory compliance with the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and other applicable state and local water regulations.
Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures for the management of Church-owned and operated drinking water systems across the U.S. and Canada.
Establish and oversee routine water monitoring schedules to ensure compliance and water quality standards.
Provide guidance and consulting services to Facilities Managers to resolve water system violations identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for Facilities Managers and partners on drinking water system operations and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with other Church departments to establish policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all state and federal water regulations.
Conduct fieldwork including sanitary surveys system GISmapping investigative sampling and water system diagramming.
Review engineering plans and oversee the construction of water systems to ensure compliance with applicable construction standards.
Provide training and directions to Facilities Managers on the preparation and submission of monthly quarterly and annual regulatory reports to local state and federal agencies.
Compile analyze and submit water use reports to government agencies.

Provide guidance and consulting services to Church departments to resolve wastewater system issues.
Supervise and provide guidance to Church service missionaries full-time missionaries or employees assigned to the water resources team.
Mapping and Data Support (15%)
Develop GIS maps graphics and presentations for water asset-related projects.
Collect analyze and integrate GIS datasets from multiple sources to support water system management and compliance efforts.
Maintain and update the database of Church-owned drinking water systems.
Support the maintenance of water asset records and databases.
Water Resources Responsibilities (15%)
Review real estate transactions to ensure proper handling of water assets in coordination with Real Estate Analysts Project Managers and Closing Managers.
Evaluate and facilitate water asset donation approvals providing recommendations to the Gift Review Committee.
Conduct water transactions including transferring water rights between properties to establish service connections for new facilities.
QualificationsRequired:
Bachelors degree.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in drinking water system management.
Certified Small System or Distribution Grade I-IV Drinking Water System Operator in Utah or another state
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
Preferred:
Masters degree in civil engineering geology hydrology biology chemistry environmental science or a related field.
5 years of experience in drinking water system management.
Certified Drinking Water System Treatment Operator in Utah or another state
Experience with GIS software (ESRI Google Earth etc.).
