Department: Tata Steel Tubes

Location: Hartlepool (TS25)

Salary : 37500 - 45000 Benefits

What you will do

As a Mechanical Project Engineer on site you will be required to provide maintain and develop engineering services for both capital and special revenue projects. You will assist in developing the works capital plan and long-term strategies by working up engineering proposals investigating new technologies and benchmarking.

You will alsobe expected toprovide the required professional technical input and represent Tata Steel Hartlepool in dealings with other Tata sites and the Competent Authority. Specificallyyou will need to:

  • Assist in setting Hartlepool policy in line with ISO/IEC EN and BS and Tata Steel policies/guidance.
  • Organize facilitate and document safety studies such as risk assessments HAZOP and FMEA.
  • Ensure that Management of Change documents are created for any modifications or changes.
  • Use transferable skills to assist with others on site.

In this capacity your role responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Develop project plans and submissions in line with the long-term needs and strategies of the works.
  • Manage and deliver fully all allocated projects and assist others where necessary. This includes all relevant project phases such as concept proposal feasibility study design build test installation commissioning training documentation handover and final acceptance.
  • Ensure that all work conforms to the relevant standards and guidance. This includes all of the lifecycle phases such as design specification installation maintenance and decommissioning.
  • Support the works SRE and Capital plans as decided by the Senior Engineering team.
  • Provide expert engineering support and assistance for project improvement work and problem solving.

What you will need

For this role it is required that the candidate has knowledge of project management techniques risk assessment and safety study techniques.

As the Mechanical Project Engineer you will ideally be educated to HNC/HND with 7 years experience or Degree level in mechanical engineering and have 3 years experience within the an industrial environment at an appropriate level.

You will also require the following skills:

  • Drafting and 3D modelling using industry standard CAD platforms
  • Good statistical analytical and computing skills
  • Strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Awareness of CDM regulations
