Description

Summary: Works under the direction of the VA Plant Manager to manage the day training program and oversee the daily operation of the VA Laundry services per the federal contract requirements. Also directs work of staff and team members to ensure vocational training that is designed to foster the acquisition of skills build positive social behavior and interpersonal competence while promoting choice independence and personal growth. This service will be person centered and encourage the development of rewarding relationships community connections broadening communication skills building on self reliance by increasing life skills and self-advocacy awareness for adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Under the direction of the VA Plant Manager oversees and ensures daily operations in accordance with Zoom Groups Medicaid and OSHA policies and applicable laws to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Assists with training new employees plan and assign work direct work evaluate performance and provide corrective action if needed and positive recognition; and address complaints/concerns to resolve issues.
  • Monitor that staff are conducting daily skills training in one or more of the following areas:

How to effectively communicate with staff co-workers and customers.

Generally accepted workplace conduct and dress

Problem solving skills and strategies

Workplace safety

Following directions and attending to work tasks

Mobility training

Ensure that work is performed within standards and completed on time.

  • Assist with performing daily operating tasks of the laundry
    • Place clean linen carts count in computer and making sure each cart goes to proper division
    • Folding sleepwear and place in linen carts
    • Sort soiled linens
  • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment; ensure staff and team members are adequately trained in the safe use of equipment and machines per job analysis and standard operating procedures. Assist with on-going training throughout the year.
  • Monitor the timely completion of daily notes and summaries. Perform spot checks of such notes and summaries and other documentation in THERAP to ensure compliance. Ensures corrective action if required.
  • Ensures the accurate and timely completion of IEEs time studies/standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Education/Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of one years related work experience and/or training in a commercial laundry. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience working with developmentally challenged adults a plus. Equivalent combination of education training skills and experience may be considered.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to record data. Ability to speak effectively on the phone or in person to customers or employees/clients of the organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add subtract using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Skills Intermediate skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills The ability to key in data into an existing database program.
