JOB SUMMARY: The Orofacial Pain Specialist is responsible for providing students with training in diagnosis treatment planning sequencing and the actual treatment of assigned patients with oral and maxillofacial pain. The Orofacial Pain discipline assesses diagnoses and treats patients with complex chronic pain in the mouth jaws and face. This represents a unique and challenging opportunity to become a leading facilitator in higher education in Orofacial Pain and interprofessional pain education and to join a multidisciplinary team of clinicians in the delivery of care for patients suffering from chronic orofacial pain and comorbid pain conditions. In addition there is the exciting opportunity to collaborate in ongoing pain research in key areas ranging from pain neurobiology to translational pain medicine.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate with or without reasonable accommodations that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: a Doctor of Medical Dentistry or Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from an ADA-accredited college or university and certificate that demonstratessuccessful completion of an Orofacial Pain residency program and board-eligible or a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. Successful candidate must have experience in the clinical management of chronic orofacial pain conditions and dental sleep medicine and at least 5 years experience in the treatment and management of patients with oral facial successfulcandidate must hold a current dental license from Florida or be eligible for a Florida dental license.
