Job Description
POSITION: Business and Marketing Education CTE - Grades 9 12 1.0 FTE
LOCATION: Big Picture High School Choice Schools
REPORTS TO: Career & Technical Education Director and Choice Schools Principal
Purpose: Providing quality ELA and project-focused instruction through effective project-based learning and classroom management techniques specific to hands-on integrated learning in a competency-based program for students in grades 9th through 12th.
Responsibilities
- Planning preparing implementing and evaluating instructional activities consistent with established program and/or curriculum objectives CTE Program Standards 21st Century Skills Washington State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Demonstrating effective teaching practices specifically around project-based learning and utilizing appropriate instructional methods and materials suited to the students aptitudes and interests and the nature of the learning activities
- Providing a clear and intentional focus on ELA subject matter content and curriculum project management curriculum and administration of a WSL program for students in Choice Schools
- Using multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning
- Providing instruction that centers on high expectations for student achievement
- Exhibiting collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning with teachers in Choice Schools
- Recognizing individual student learning needs and developing strategies to address those needs
- Establishing classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
- Providing guidance counseling and discipline to encourage students to meet the standard of achievement and conduct
- Communicating and collaborating with students parents and/or guardians administration and other staff members to provide guidance and evaluation and encourage student achievement
- Evaluating and recording student progress and providing reports for administrative purposes
- Maintaining program certification through OSPI Course Approval Process
- Providing leadership and guidance to students as an advisor through a recognized and approved CTSO such as FBLA or DECA
- Maintaining active participation and working with CTE Program advisory committees
- Performing other duties as assigned by the CTE Director
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability of best practices for instructing Business Education
- Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of instructional strategies and methods appropriate to student learning needs specifically those related to project-based learning
- Demonstrated ability to align instruction and assessment with CTE Program Standards 21st Century Skill Standards Washington State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Demonstrated ability to integrate subject matter
- Demonstrated knowledge of TPEP and Danielson Framework
- Demonstrated effective and positive student behavior management skills
- Demonstrated ability to promote high expectations maintain a caring attitude and establish a learning environment that enhances academic achievement for all students
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with all school district staff and students
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters in an ethical manner
- Demonstrated ability to work independently take initiative and accept the responsibility of providing effective leadership in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and provide logical solutions in complex situations
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain accurate records
- Demonstrated ability to remain flexible to change in assignment or situations
- Demonstrated high level of computer proficiency and application of technology
Qualifications
- Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate Business Education CTE Certification and Endorsement
- Teaching experience at the secondary level preferred
- Ability to teach variety of Business Education-related subjects including but not limited to:
- Business Communication
- Journalism
- Social Media Marketing
- Project Management/Leadership
- Work Site Learning
- Career Choices
- ESL Certification completion of Glad Training and ability to speak Spanish language preferred
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check

- Full time positions are 7 hours per day for 180 days - Less than 1.0 full time salary pro-rated
- 180 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits to include 12 days of sick leave and3 personal leave days
- Salary based on the current EEA salary schedule
