Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsins largest and most diverse technical college offering 170 high-quality programs that connect students to a career in as little as one to two years. Under the direction of the Dean of Community Education or designee the Traffic Safety Program Specialist supports the administration and operations of the Traffic Safety Program at MATC. This dual role involves assisting with program development student support data management and community outreach initiatives in conjunction with reporting to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin Technical College Board ensuring compliance with relevant traffic safety Trans Codes rules and regulations. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives and limited to problems or unusual conditions. Works independently with minimal supervision and with staff in a teamwork approach.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirement both in MATC policies and procedures as well as Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Wisconsin Technical College Board.

Required Education & Experience MINIMUMS:

Preferred Education & Experience:
Associates degree in business or related field with two (2) years post high school office experience.
Experience with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation specifically the Traffic Safety School is highly desirable.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of traffic safety WI-DOT regulations educational methodologies and all relevant MATC regulations.
  • Knowledge of modern business office practices procedures and intermediate to expert skill in their applications.
  • Ability to keep complex records to assemble and organize data and prepare reports from such records.
  • Ability to independently investigate pay and related problems solving problems within established parameters.
  • Ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Ability to establish collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with peers students instructors staff Wisconsin Department of Transportation units representatives of outside agencies municipal courts educational institutions and general public.
  • Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
  • Intermediate or expert skill set in the use of computers and software specific to position including Google Suite spreadsheets Wisconsin Department of Transportation WAMS WASP PARS systems WI-CCAP and the Internet.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve in a leadership role to others.
  • Ability to establish workflows manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines.

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Community EducationDivision and is available to start as soon as possible.

Hours: This position requires 40 hours per week. Work hours may vary Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM with occasional Saturdays and travel to other campuses.

Modality:This is a 100% In-Person position at our Milwaukee Downtown Campus location.Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.

Salary: Salaryis listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2025/2026 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
