Job Duties
The Materials Section within VDOTs Hampton Roads District is seeking an hourly (wage) Geotechnical Engineer to perform or monitor geotechnical investigations and testing. Perform pavement and geotechnical plan reviews and designs. Prepare analyses reports and recommendations on geotechnical pavement designs and foundation reports and recommendations for major and minor structures and roadways within established project deadlines.

This hourly/wage position is part-time does not offer benefits and is limited to a maximum of 1500 hours of work in the 12-month period beginning May 1 and ending April 30. (Number of hours worked per week could fluctuate depending on business need.) Continued need for hourly positions will be evaluated at least annually.
Fingerprint-based background checks references work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. H1B VISA Sponsorship is not available.
VDOT utilizes a market-based pay program which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.
