Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in maintenance repair (e.g. basic electrical plumbing carpentry masonry & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment). Valid commercial drivers license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code; in Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry only applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190).

DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio. DYS is statutorily mandated to confine felony offenders ages 10-21 who have been adjudicated and committed by one of Ohios 88 county juvenile courts. During their stay with DYS youth are engaged in programming that is designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. DYS reaches thousands of youth in facilities and those on parole.

BACKGROUND CHECK NOTICE:
The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. PRE-SERVICE TRAINING:
The final candidate selected will be required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory paid Pre-Service Training at the DYS Training Academy in Orient Ohio. DYS provides transportation lodging and meals. Pre-Service Training is Monday - Thursday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
DYS is a qualifying employer for purposes of the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness PSLF program
What Youll Do:
DYS is seeking a Maintenance Repair Worker 3 (MRW3) to provide skilled maintenance repair of the facility and act as a lead worker (e.g. provides work direction training) over youth workers in performance of semi-skilled & skilled maintenance repair.
