Job Description

The Role:

SoFi is seeking a detail-oriented and proactiveGlobal Payroll Tax Specialist to support our expanding business. This role is essential in ensuring payroll tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will possess a keen willingness to learn a problem-solving mindset attention to detail and a strong desire to improve our end-to-end payroll processes.

What Youll Do:

  • Equity Processing: Handle equity payroll tasks including pre-payments and reversals research and resolution of tax variances.
  • Tax Filing Review: Review and analyze monthly quarterly and annual tax filings related to payroll and equity payroll processing.
  • Research and Amendments: Conduct research and evaluate amendments to tax filings as required.
  • SOX Compliance: Ensure all reconciliations are documented properly to maintain SOX compliance.
  • Payroll Data Processing: Oversee the processing of all equity payroll data and ensure accurate tax withholding.
  • Tax Return Oversight: Work with third-party vendors to ensure timely and accurate federal state and local withholding and unemployment tax returns.
  • Tax Deposits: Ensure payroll tax deposits and returns are completed in compliance with federal state and local tax laws.
  • Tax Law Research: Stay current on changes in tax laws ensuring that tax issues affecting the company are understood and addressed.
  • Agency Notices: Respond to agency notices preparing necessary documentation and correspondence.
  • Reporting: Produce reports to prevent and detect issues that could affect payroll tax compliance.
  • Additional Duties: Take on other responsibilities as required to support the payroll team.

What Youll Need:

  • Bachelors degree and a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in a multi-state payroll function.
  • At least 2 years of experience in global equity payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of various equity award types (ISO NSO RSU LTI Cash ESPP etc.) and related global taxation.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. Payroll laws regulations and requirements.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with G-Suite and Excel.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues.
  • Excellent verbal written analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail organizational skills and consistent follow-through.

Ability to partner with cross-functional teams including Equity HR Legal and Tax.
