Engineering Technician DEPARTMENT: Engineering SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday7:30 am 4:00pm(some flexibility with hours) REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor Position Summary: The Engineer Technician coordinates and advises on design projects to ensure quality in a manner that reflects the standards of the District. This position also conducts plan review updates standard specifications performs flow tests and prepares projects for the procurement process. Additionally this position assists in the regulatory compliance and efficient operations of the District. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. - Manages projects pertaining to main replacement treatment plants tanks and pumping stations and other capital improvements which involves collaborating with various District departments on design considerations communicating design comments to the consulting engineer reviewing the design to assure compliance with current standards and regulations assembling information required for permits and special funding sources developing project specifications publicly bidding the project executing the contract documents administering preconstruction meetings conducting site inspections or assisting the inspection group as issues are encountered during construction
- Contributes to the construction administration and inspection of projects
- Assist with residential and commercial plan review and processes
- Analyze and reports on unmetered water flow test and pressure recorders for fire hydrant.
- Assists with local public entities regarding upcoming construction projects
- Assists with bid specifications for goods and services Request for Qualifications (RFQs) and Request for Proposals (RFPs)
- Oversees the installation of new residential and commercial water services which includes locating the water main inspecting work performed by the water service contractor handling contractor pay requests assuring that the correct documentation and paperwork is recorded
- Reviews subdivision plans and coordinates with developers
- Reviews meter pit plans and inspects construction of pits to ensure compliance with District standards
- Performs flow tests as necessary for internal and external use
- Tracks house densities in unserved areas of the system and assists in developing Sub-District projects (water main extension projects) based on density and the available budget
- Maintains the Water Management Planning Council Report for the Area Development District
- Acquires necessary easements for construction projects
- Manages permitting process for State Highway and other entities
- May need to assist and/or apply for monitor and coordinate reimbursement for KIA and other funding
- Ensures compliance of company policies including but not limited to safety concerns and incident reporting

Required Education and Experience: - High School/GED
- Associates degree or equivalent education and experienced preferred
- Construction and project management experience preferred
Licensing/Certifications: Valid Drivers License Additional Skills: - Ability to learn intimate details of the water system to understand how various components interact with each other
- Experience working with Microsoft Office programs
- Organizational writing math and people skills
Work Environment and Physical Demands: This job primarily operates in a climate-controlled environment. May spend some time in the field to monitor ongoing projects conduct flow tests or install pressure recorders which could involve physical or manual labor to turn valves or operate fire hydrants. Works with equipment such as computer copy machine fax phones hydrant wrench valve key hydrant diffuser pressure gauges/recorders. The position requires auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. There is no regular travel expected for this position.
