Job Description
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITIONS IN THIS CLASS:
Under general direction from the Public Works Director oversees and coordinates all aspects of facility maintenance including managing a maintenance team scheduling repairs remodeling public facilities implementing preventive maintenance programs and ensuring that all applicable codes are met within all county-owned buildings and that safety standards are followed. Will also self-perform various maintenance duties and tasks as required.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND PERFORMANCE:
Essential Duties:
- Team Management:
- Supervising and directing the day-to-day operations of the Facility Maintenance Staff
- Assigns daily tasks sets priorities and ensures efficient workflow.
- Maintenance Operations:
- Planning scheduling and coordinating preventive maintenance activities repairs and renovations.
- Inspecting facilities and equipment to identify potential issues and recommend solutions.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is performed to all applicable codes and the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Safety and Compliance
- Maintains a safe working environment by enforcing safety regulations and procedures.
PHYSICAL AND RELATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform moderate/heavy physical work lifting weights up to 75 lbs and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs;
- Ability to stand walk sit ride climb bend kneel crawl twist reach grasp push pull pick pinch and perform similar movements for an extended amount of time.
- Possesses hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to use hand and power tools and operate a vehicle and other equipment (tractor forklift manlift skid steer etc.)
- Ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone.
- Ability to see and read instructions make repairs and inspect equipment.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and ten years of experience in carpentry HVAC plumbing and facility maintenance; possession of a valid drivers license with an acceptable motor vehicle report (MVR).
