PURPOSE
This position is responsible for overseeing the internship program and other support services and activities related to internship through the Career and Professional Development Center at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC). The Internship Coordinator works with the academic colleges in the development and tracking of both credit and non-credit internships. This position will be responsible for the documentation of non-credit internships on transcripts for requesting students; as well as oversee the background check process for students who are participating in internships involving minors. The Internship Coordinator will also recruit and develop relationships with employers to offer internship opportunities for the students at TAMU-CC. The position oversees the Job Development Internship Program in partnership with the City of Corpus Christi as well as the Student Endowment Internship Scholarship.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Area 1: Program Management
Percent Effort: 50%
Work with academic colleges to develop and track both credit and non-credit internships.
Identify recruit and cultivate relationships with companies to offer internships and other experiential learning opportunities to TAMU-CC students.
Oversee the Job Development Internship Program and serve as the administrative contact with the City of Corpus Christi in managing this program.
Oversee the documentation of non-credit internships on transcript internship background check and the Student Endowment Internship Scholarship.
Develop and host Internship Orientation to provide trainings for students who are going into internships.
Functional Area 2: Promotion & Support
Percent Effort: 30%
Communicate with academic advisors and faculty on potential internship offerings. Promote internships to campus community.
Work with companies to develop marketing campaigns to promote off-campus internships and other experiential learning opportunities to students.
Assist with job descriptions and interview process conduct site visits resolve issues and work with employers and interns to ensure a positive experience.
Hold informational meetings with student groups conduct presentations to employers and campus partners.
Develop a wide range of activities to promote internship and experiential learning across campus including Internship Week events.
Functional Area 3: Administration & Report
Percent Effort: 15%
Oversee and track enrollment reimbursement process and program outcomes of the Job Development Internship Program.
Work with campus colleges and external employers to track internship opportunities and internship participation records and other forms of experiential learning activities offered to TAMU-CC students.
Functional Area 4: Others
Percent Effort: 5%
Serve on committees and assist with special projects as needed. Assist department staff with special events.
Conduct other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Higher Education Administration Student Personnel Administration Business Counseling or closely related field.
Three (3) years of experience in a Career Services field or closely related.
Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement:
Masters degree in related field and one (1) year of related experience.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience developing internships.
Experience developing relationships working with community and business partners.
University Experience in a traditional university setting.
SALARY: $43888 - $45000/annually approximately
$3657.34 - $3750/monthly
