University of Iowa Health Cares Department of Nursing is seeking a Nurse Manager to provide leadership and management of the Nursing team in delivering safe quality family-centered patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Position Specific Summary
We are seeking an energetic passionate and dedicated nurse leader to provide managerial and clinical leadership for our Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapies Unit (3JCP). This person will be responsible for ensuring that all staff have the education resources and support to provide safe high-quality patient care. As a member of our Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division nursing leadership team this person will be expected to work collaboratively with staff and leaders across the organization to meet unit departmental and organizational goals.
Positions in this job family usually have limited involvement in direct patient care and focus their efforts on planning organizing directing evaluating and improving health care operations clinical education programs and research programs of clinical and health service departments.
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: 40 hours per week primarily Monday-Friday 0700-1530
Location: 3 John Colloton Pavilion
Rotations: Holiday evening and weekend unit resource

Education or Equivalency Required:
- Masters Degree in Nursing or related field. If Masters Degree is in related field Baccalaureate in Nursing is required
- If qualified applicant does not have Masters Degree in Nursing the applicant will need to complete an advanced degree in nursing health care administration or business administration within five years of beginning this position
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa or ability to obtain an Iowa license by date of hire is required
Required Qualifications:
- Recent experience in clinical practice
- Considerable (3-5 years) experience and demonstrated skill in leadership/management roles
- Experience with unit operations including human resources financial management quality management and compliance with regulatory environment with various federal and state agencies and the Joint Commission
- Demonstrated experience with patient/family satisfaction initiatives including modeling service excellence principles/standards
- Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with physicians staff patients families outside agencies/vendors and the community
- Must be proficient in computer software applications
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in large academic medical center
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Experience working with oncology patients and providers
- Certification in a role or specialtythrough a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body. If not currently certified must seek certification in a role or specialty as soon as eligible to sit for the exam
