Job Description

Position: Fine Arts PE & CTE Academic Specialist

Location: Central Office

Reports to: Executive Director of Secondary Leadership

Length of Employment: 210 days

Salary: As per Berkeley County pay schedule with years of experienceand degree levelwith coordinator index.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid West Virginia teaching certification in Fine Arts/Related Arts: Music Art Physical Education or CTE-related
  2. Must have a minimum of five years cumulative teaching or administrative experience at the secondary (6-12) level.
  3. Preference is given to those individuals who can demonstrate a deep knowledge of the pedagogy associated with the implementation of the job responsibilities including successful professional development and/or coaching.
  4. Preference is given to individuals who can demonstrate a deep understanding of balanced scorecard and NOCTI
  5. Documented evidence using foundational components and latest research that supports all fine arts and related art programs.
  6. Must possess good public relations skills apply mediation and people skills in problem solving situations.
  7. Possess the knowledge and skills necessary to implement the use of technology across the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  1. Advises and serves as liaison and advocate for the purpose of assisting Fine Arts PE and CTE-related teachers.
  2. Analyzes student and program related data for the purpose of providing information related to student and program achievement in order to evaluate program effectiveness and to provide information needed for strategic planning.
  3. Collaborates with employees parents administrators support organizations etc. for the purpose of ensuring that activities meet student program and District objectives in an effective and timely manner.
  4. Conducts needs assessments for the purpose of ensuring district curriculum and professional development needs are met.
  5. Design and deliver county-wide professional development in both Unified Fine Arts and CTE.
  6. Assists with the review and selection of textbooks and related instructional aides for the purpose of providing quality material.
  7. Supports teachers by visiting classrooms and offering feedback for the purpose of enhancing their understanding and application of educational and curriculum plans strategies and materials.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand talk hear walk and sit. While performing the duties of this job the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50lbs such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. The employee is directly responsible for safety well-being or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors. This position requires travel from school to school.

Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated by the Executive Director of Elementary Leadership and can be placed in the personnel file at the Central Office.
