Lab/Field Testing Technician Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Intertek a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the worlds top-recognized brands and companies is actively seeking a Lab/Field Testing Technician to join our Building and Construction Testing team in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Interteks Building and Construction division is a suite of Intertek brands that are industry leaders across multiple architecture engineering and construction disciplines developing the most innovative product and project solutions. Interteks project-related assurance testing inspection and consulting services are the risk management and quality assurance partner you need to ensure the reliability safety and performance of your new developments existing assets and facilities. Interteks Pittsburgh Lab (Building and Construction is primarily focused on lab testing of fenestration products and field performance testing for new construction and retrofit projects.

What are we looking for

As a Lab/Field Testing Technician you will assistwith field testing and product testing in our air/water/structural testing lab. This position provides opportunity for growth and development within the department and company. This job requires travel only some weeks when field testing is required outside of Pittsburgh. A shared company vehicle is provided for work travel and expenses are all covered by the company including per diem for overnight travel.

Shift/Schedule:Monday Friday with travel some weeks

What youll do:

  • Lab Testing in our facility and Field testing projects as assigned
  • Testing per AAMA and ASTM standards
  • Communicate with clients and project team regarding site observations test preparation procedures results and reporting matters (data collection and submission)
  • Provide assistance to the lead technician as dictated by the project/product
  • Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project team

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 6 months commercial construction and/or commercial or residential carpentry experience
  • Experience working with elevated working platforms (ladders boom-lifts roof levels etc)
  • Ability to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems curtain wall window and door systems waterproofing roofing etc. and their installation means and methods
  • Working knowledge of test methods and standards associated with testing of these systems or the ability to learn and comprehend these standards
  • Aptitude for working independently on assigned projects
  • Technical competency and ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers both in writing and orally
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Good computer skills Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds climb stairs and ladders bend crawl push and pull as needed
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time or more
  • Valid drivers license and reliable driving record (required)

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred
