Job Description
Summary:
Oversee the receiving and unloading of all raw potatoes to insure that all potatoes received are properly graded/tared reject any potatoes not complying with contract/established terms inspect all loads for foreign material sort and unload potatoes into bays by variety and keep the raw receiving machinery and equipment in good repair.
This position is responsible for managing the Raw Receiving personnel and maintaining good relations with suppliers. This position is responsible for insuring the Raw Receiving area is free of safety hazards and that raw receiving personnel are trained in and adhere to all personal and product safety policies programs regulations and procedures.
Knowledge and skills:
- Ability to read and write legibly and in English.
- Read and understand a graduated thermometer knowledge of weights measures scales and scale calibration and perform basic math calculations.
- Learns testing methods and is able to perform standard dirt rot green tare and specific gravity testing on incoming raw potatoes.
- Must be able to closely follow operational instructions and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of staff and management.
- Good attention to detail ability to reason and make decisions.
