Were hiring a Peer Specialist to join our Creston Recovery team at 41 Montebello Road in Pueblo CO.
What Youd Be Doing
A peer specialist is a person who has progressed in their own recovery from substance use and/or a mental health condition and is willing to self-identify as a peer and work to assist other individuals with their recovery. Because of ones life experience such a person has expertise that professional training cannot replicate. This position is for the support of those who are in any stage of change with their mental health and/or substance use history within the community and at Crestone Recovery service continuum. The position of peer support specialist wears many hats including outreach motivator resource connector ally and confidant role model and mentor planner problem solver tour guide advocate and educator.
Working under the direction of the Crestone Recovery Director and supervisor designee
- Communicate with individuals who have sought out recovery services at Crestones outpatient treatment program and within the community through our community partners specifically probation DSS Parole Community Corrections and individuals within the jail.
- Facilitate at least 1 CRAFT Family group through Health Solutions.
- Facilitate one group a week at probation to assist individuals on probation in pursuing further treatment assistance.
- Communicate with clients in a manner that is supportive in nature providing hope information and reassuring listening and consultation.
- Communicate with all community providers in a timely and professional manner.
- Finding the necessary resources and assistance with connecting individuals to whatever services they need in the community.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of all encounters with clients
- Physical Requirements:
- Frequently walk within a facility for prolonged periods.
- Frequently remains stationary for prolonged periods.
- Frequently communicates with clients and others.
- Occasionally moves materials or equipment up to 30 pounds.
- Frequently uses a computer and other office equipment to record and process data.
