Job Description

Position Summary

Concordia University seeks a qualified applicant to fill one full-time (12 month) faculty position in the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program located in the School of Health Professions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be mission-oriented and committed to excellence in teaching scholarship and service. Concordia seeks faculty who are team players invested in student success and intellectually curious thinkers who embrace positive change. The MSW program is housed at the universitys Mequon WI campus. The university will consider hiring faculty who work remotely and would be expected to come to campus in person several times per year.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching online asynchronous courses at the graduate (MSW) level
  • Student advisement and mentoring
  • Active participation on committees maintenance of office hours and attendance at program and plenary meetings
  • Service to the MSW Program School of Health Professions University and community
  • Contribution to the accreditation/reaffirmation/assessment process
  • Participation in developing and modifying the MSW curriculum
  • Engagement in strategic planning for the MSW Program
  • Peer-reviewed scholarship in accordance with standards outlined in the Concordia University Faculty Handbook
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of online teaching platforms and experience in online teaching preferred
  • Ability to embrace change in a growing department and professional school
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the MSW Program in the School of Health Professions and University
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to connect faith and learning both in and out of the classroom; commitment to abide by Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) doctrine and practice
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • An earned doctorate preferably in Social Work or a closely related field. ABD will be considered with a letter from the dissertation chairperson and an identified date for defense.
  • A minimum of five years post-MSW practice experience is required. Candidate will have professional experience with a variety of client groups and social service settings

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time exempt (salary) 12-month faculty position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Concordia University benefit options include but are not limited to the following:
