Job Duties

About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Office Services Specialist in our Safety Division at their Headquarters in Richmond Virginia. The successful candidate will provide customer service to over 4500 inspection stations statewide Virginia law enforcement officials and the general public; review submitted orders for inspection supplies; determine if quantity of supplies ordered is appropriate based on stations inspection history and use; conduct in-depth audits of station sticker inventory and inspection records to identify any missing or unaccounted serial numbers using Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection Program procedures and station inventory file data; assist with ordering and processing shipping supplies; and assist with filing sorting packaging and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of general office practices to include basic mathematics grammar and research methods; and of numeric and alphabetic filing systems.
Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications for data entry and memo and letter writing; and in speaking respectfully with people.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions; to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English; to use automated office equipment; and to work independently and with others.
General office and clerical experience that includes reconciliation of data and performance of a variety of routine numeric and administrative tasks.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
