Job Description



License/Certification/Registration:
*Current MN State RN License.
*Current BLS PALS and ACLS Certification.
*Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist License.
*Nurse Anesthetist by National Board of Certification for Nurse Anesthetists.

Education:
*Masters degree in Nursing or similar field.
*Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) or the Council of Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.

Experience:
*Ten or more years of experience in a Nursing or CRNA role showing progressive advancement and responsibilities.
*Five or more years of experience providing anesthesia at a tertiary pediatric hospital.
*Experience successfully managing budgets and resources (both internal and external) to maximize efficiencies preferred.
*Prior experience directly leading a team with a proven track record of building high-functioning teams and driving for performance preferred.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

Department Overview

The Anesthesia Department provides all types of anesthesia services to children on an inpatient and/or outpatient basis on the Minneapolis St. Paul and West Campuses. Additional services include: Respiratory and airway management and professional consultation for patients requiring unusual pain management techniques or analgesic nerve blocks. In order to minimize patient anxiety and fear parental involvement during the induction of anesthesia whenever safely possible is encouraged.


Position Summary

Responsible for the overall clinical performance of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia staff and the execution of the operations of the Anesthesiology Department. Will provide leadership in the creation of an environment that ensures continued improvement in quality patient care within the Anesthesiology Department as it pertains to the services of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. Functions in the role of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist approximately 20% of the time. The role will report to the Chief of Surgery. Primary accountabilities include meeting or exceeding customer expectation through systems development & evaluation program planning & resource management. Will advocate for and help to develop systems that support the advanced practice nursing role in the peri-operative setting; will work collaboratively with peri-operative leadership and staff as well as other interdisciplinary members of the patient care team. This individual will also participate within the Anesthesiology Department in assessing & implementing policies administering human resource functions and coaching and mentoring others. Coordinates the scheduling/staffing function to provide optimal use of human resources to meet patient care medical & institutional needs. In this cross functional position the Director CRNA also partners with medical anesthesia leadership including Sites Lead CRNA. This role is based in Minneapolis and travels to other Childrens Minnesota sites as needed.
