Join Our Team as a Groundskeeper!
Locations: Lawrence & Topeka KS
Pay: $16$20/hr. (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time

Westport Properties is hiring a dependable detail-oriented Groundskeeper to help keep our properties looking their best. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining exterior groundslawns trees bushes stairwells rock beds and moreand may include light interior work like unit cleanouts.

What Youll Do

  • Operate hand tools and power equipment mowing and weed eating when necessary
  • Shoveling and moving landscape rocks to create or repair rock beds
  • Exterior repairs to fences or buildings with some painting
  • Rebuild retaining walls
  • Maintain pools with chemicals and hand cleaning
  • Daily pick up of trash pet feces leaves branches weeds etc.
  • Prevent and eliminate weeds by pulling and/or spraying
  • Administer weed killer and fertilizers
  • Pressure wash exteriors and stairwells occasionally
  • Sweeping and vacuuming stairwells
  • Drive to properties as needed to perform the required work
  • Work directly with and answer to Maintenance Supervisor (and Property Managers) with constant communication throughout each day working as a team to efficiently keep the curb appeal at its best.
  • Looks to provide proactive maintenance instead of reactive maintenance
  • Participating as an integral part of the maintenance team in timely snow removal and ice melt application efforts
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism and appearance on the job and projecting this professionalism to all team members residents owners vendors and subcontractors

What Youll Need

  • Exceptional attention to detail to maximize the curb appeal
  • Self-motivation and ability to work autonomously
  • Be able to walk outside all day in any weather including up and down stairs and uneven grounds bending over often to pick up items on the ground
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Ability to lift push or pull heavy objects up to and over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to shovel dig rake and other landscape skills
  • Valid state drivers license and clean driving record
  • Ability to drive to properties
  • Shovel and/or plow snow
  • Willingness to learn and follow direction
  • Good communication skills
