JOB TITLE: Student Mentor Coordinator (SPURS)

LOCATION: Heppner or Boardman

FLSA: .875 FTE (35 hours/wk until October of 2025) will then drop to .75 FTE (30 hours/wk)

SUPERVISOR: Clinical Supervisor/Director or Site Manager depending on location

PAY GRADE: B05 ($18.65 - $25.77 per hour depending on experience)

DESCRIPTION

Coordinates the student mentor program. Works closely with schools to identify screen and assign student mentors to identified students who would benefit from mentoring. Develops/identifies activities for mentors to use when working with students that will facilitate healthy communication skills relationship building and positive school and home interactions and life choices. This position will understand and respect each clients point of view experiences and preferences and work with other CCS staff to maximize client choice self-determination and decision making.

Supervision Received

Depending upon location this position is supervised by either the Clinical Supervisor Clinical Director or Site Manager.

Supervision Exercised

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with schools to identify and screen perspective mentors and mentees. Work closely with HR to enroll perspective mentors as volunteers.
  • Train mentors on what it means to be a student mentor and appropriate roles/activities. Pair mentors with mentees.
  • Provide ongoing training and coordinating to mentors ensuring that mentors are working within scope and providing quality mentoring services.
  • Participate and attend on-going trainings conferences and workshops when needed or requested.
  • Complete evaluation surveys as requested.
  • Recognize role as a mandated reporter and report any problematic issues.
  • Ensure accurate timely and complete documentation of all documents and subsequent data entry when required.
  • Maintain updated rosters for all mentees in the group. Serve as a back-up resource for all mentors in the group. Participate as requested in supervision.
  • Create monthly Coordinator reports.
  • Adhere to all program policies and procedures.
  • Provide transportation to mentors/mentees when recommended to assist clients in access to services or when providing mentoring activities in the community.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and other members of the team and get constructive feedback regarding mentoring activities.

Education and/or Experience

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.


Certifications

No certifications are required for this position.

  • Ability to represent CCS within the community and at State or regional meetings including the ability to speak in public and make presentations for a wide variety of public meetings.
  • Must have excellent typing skills knowledge of basic office software programs and ability to effectively use such software.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats. Must have the ability to present and exchange information internally across teams and co-workers and externally with customers and the public. Information communicated ranges from routine/basic to complex and confidential information.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS


Must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR through .

In addition to a pre-employment background check each employee volunteer and contractor shall be checked on a monthly basis against the OIG and GSA exclusion lists as well as other federal and state agency lists. If it is discovered that an employee volunteer or contractor is excluded or sanctioned it will be the cause for immediate termination of employment volunteering or the termination of the contract.


PERSONAL AUTO INSURANCE


Must hold a valid drivers license as well as personal auto insurance for privately owned Vehicles utilized for CCS business such as client service purposes travel between business offices and the community to attend required meetings and trainings.

Must show proof of $300000 or more liability coverage for bodily injury and property damage and maintain said level of coverage for the duration of employment at CCS.

The employees insurance is primary with CCS insurance being secondary. CCS reserves the right to deny any employee the use of a vehicle owned by CCS.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


While performing the essential duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use office automation including computer and phone systems that require find manipulation grasping typing and reaching.

The employee is also regularly required to sit; talk and hear; use hands and fingers and handle smell or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel and/or squat when adjusting equipment or retrieving supplies.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision peripheral vision distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Work is performed in an office environment and in many community settings such as schools other public agencies and community groups in a variety of locations. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally may be exposed to loud noise such as raised voice levels and alarms.

This position is exposed to the everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as an office (i.e. moving mechanical parts airborne particles and electrical shock).
